A full quarter of Africa–Europe policy, read for business.
Four times a year we turn everything the EU and African Union institutions published about each other into one report: what was decided, what was only announced, and what it means for companies working across the two continents.
Two reports, every quarter
EU–Africa Policy Report. What the European Parliament, the European Commission and the European Investment Bank said and did about Africa: trade and market access, investment and Global Gateway financing, regulation with reach into African supply chains, energy, raw materials, migration, security.
AU–Europe Policy Report. The mirror image: what the African Union Commission, the Pan-African Parliament, the AfCFTA Secretariat and the regional economic communities said and did about Europe.
Each report opens with an executive summary, works through the quarter's themes with every claim linked to the underlying document, ends with a dated timeline and a watch list for the next quarter, and closes with a method note listing every source counted.
Schedule
Reports are published on or shortly after 20 March, 20 June, 20 September and 20 December, each covering the three months up to that date. The first editions, covering 20 September to 19 December 2026, appear in December 2026.
How they are made
Our monitors collect the institutions' own press releases, resolutions, questions and announcements every day and keep a permanent, deduplicated record of everything that is relevant to Africa–Europe relations. The daily record is public on the EU Policy Monitor and the AU News Monitor. At the end of the quarter the full record is analysed with AI assistance, then edited, checked and signed off by Meridian17 before publication. Nothing goes out unread.
Sources we monitor
Everything comes from the institutions themselves. These are the pages we read, so you can read them too:
European Union
- European Parliament press room — press releases, plenary and committee news, parliamentary questions and adopted texts, across all committees and delegations.
- European Commission press corner — the Commission's press releases, statements and speeches.
- European Investment Bank press releases — financing decisions and signings, including Global Gateway operations in Africa.
African Union and regional bodies
- African Union Commission press releases
- Pan-African Parliament news
- AfCFTA Secretariat news
- ECOWAS Commission — news and press releases of the West African community.
- SADC latest news — the Southern African Development Community.
Items are kept only when they concern the other continent: an EU text that mentions Africa, an African communiqué that mentions Europe. The filter is deliberately broad; the editing is where judgement comes in.
Published reports
