A concrete operational milestone has been reached in at least one component of this project. Multiple independent trade and specialist publications reported in early May 2026 that the developer MCA inaugurated what is described as Africa's largest off-grid solar-plus-storage facility in Luau, in Angola's Lunda Sul province. pv magazine International reported on 6 May 2026 that the town of Luau had moved fully off diesel generation following commissioning of the solar park and battery energy storage system (BESS).
