Improving and securing electricity generation

The EU describes its objective as rehabilitating the Ruzizi II hydropower plant and upgrading the shared switchgear infrastructure for Inga I and Inga II, two assets whose deterioration has long constrained power availability across the broader Great Lakes region. However, none of this activity has been confirmed by Tier 1 or Tier 2 independent sources, and the absence of any EIB entry is a meaningful gap given that the EIB is the primary EU development finance institution for energy infrastructure of this kind.
